How Oval Gear Flow Meters Work
An oval gear flow meter contains two precision-machined oval gear rotors that mesh and counter-rotate as liquid flows through the meter body. Each rotation displaces a fixed, known volume of liquid. Pulses from the rotating gears are counted electronically or mechanically to calculate total volume and flow rate. The result is highly accurate, repeatable measurement that is independent of flow velocity, viscosity changes or turbulence.
