Electromagnetic flow meters or mag flow meters utilise electrodes to generate a magnetic field that liquid can flow through. These electrodes read the water’s voltage, as it travels through the field. Mag meters work by taking advantage of Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Introduction. This law states that a conductor that moves through a magnetic field, in turn, produces an electric signal. This signal is directly proportionate to the velocity of the water that moves through the field. As fluid flows through the field, the conductive particles generate a change in voltage. This variation is used to measure and then calculate the total velocity of water as it flows through a pipe.
